Jeffrey Jon Richards was born in Columbus, Ohio, and lived in western Minnesota until his late teenage years before relocating to the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

He graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina; Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas; Drew University in Madison, New Jersey; and Marburg University in Marburg, Germany.

Dr. Richards earned a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary in Historical Theology, a Ph.D. from Drew University in Philosophical Theology, and a Dr.theol. from Marburg University in Systematic Theology.

He has taught full-time or as an adjunct at several universities and seminaries, including the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Columbia Biblical Seminary of Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. He has also served as an academic dean of a theological seminary.

His post-doctoral studies include work at Tübingen University in Germany and Oxford University in England. He has lectured at the Free University in Berlin on Dietrich Bonhoeffer and has taught courses in Riga, Latvia, and Kiev, Ukraine.

According to the visible biography on his Amazon author page, he also travels extensively to the D.R. Congo, Eastern Europe, and Mexico to teach and preach.
